Since its inception in 1906 and formal establishment in 1930, the FDA has ensured the safety of food and pharmaceuticals, among other consumer products. The agency, which operates as the oldest consumer protection agency in the US government, also regulates tobacco products as part of its broad mission to protect public health.
In addition, the FDA offers an array of training and continuing education programs, which range from clinical investigator training and guidance webinars to regulatory training and the CDERLearn program. CDERLearn, which is administered by the agency’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, provides learning opportunities and shares FDA expertise in an effort to promote public health. In addition to case studies and continuing education courses, CDERLearn offers courses designed for health care practitioners, industry professionals, and even consumers.
