As the executive vice president of Total Quality Engineering in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Philip Calhoun developed a quality operating system for electrical vehicle build processes and created Vehicle Personalization Centers to improve efficiency. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Philip Calhoun is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society.

The largest collegiate honor society in the world, Golden Key upholds the three pillars of leadership, academics, and service. Members, who must be in the top 15 percent of their class, are eligible for benefits including scholarships and awards, internships, and travel grants. For example, the Joan Nelson Study Abroad Scholarship awards $5000 to a Golden Key member who is currently enrolled in a study abroad program. Applicants must write a personal letter describing how their study abroad will benefit their education and assist them in achieving future goals, and they must also submit academic transcripts and a letter of recommendation from an individual in the academic community.
