History of the Oakville Longhorns and the Northern Football Conference

Philip Calhoun is an executive vice president for Total Quality Engineering who has over 25 years of experience in automobile industry management positions. A mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Michigan, Philip Calhoun played two years of semi-professional football for the Oakville Longhorns while working as a final area manager for Ford Motor Company.
Established in 1978, the Oakville Longhorns football team plays out of the Northern Football Conference (NFC), which currently comprises eight teams spread throughout the Province of Ontario. In its 39-year history, the Longhorns has finished atop the regular season standings 15 times and won 14 NFC Championships, including a dominant stretch of 11 consecutive titles from 1993 to 2003. The team also has won three of its four Canadian Championship appearances and graduated several alumni to the Canadian Football League.
Originally created as the Northern Ontario Rugby Football Union in 1954, the NFC serves as a semi-professional development league for players to improve their skills to earn a chance to play high-level football at the university, college, or professional level. To date, over 6,700 players have participated in NFC games.
