Prince is an American rock icon whose career spanned nearly four decades. When he passed in 2016, he left behind a large volume of work that encompassed both music and film. He is best known for Purple Rain, a film and recording combo that won him both an Academy Award and a Grammy.
While he is known for the hundreds of songs he wrote for himself, Prince has also written songs recorded by other artists. The most famous was Nothing Compares 2 U, made popular by Sinead O’Connor in 1990. Other Prince songs that landed on other artists’ albums include Cyndi Lauper’s When You Were Mine, The Bangles’ Manic Monday, Chaka Khan’s I Feel for You, and Sheena Easton’s Sugar Walls.
